1990-2004
Chronological overview of RMF's Achievements in Social Development Fields over 15 years

1992-1993

Organized literacy campaigns in Akkar, with a focus on women. Due to a high level of illiteracy, the program became annual.

Provided vocational training in sewing, ceramics, painting, and embroidery in 12 villages in North Lebanon for 200 women.

Provided foreign language classes (English).

1994-1995

Conducted literacy campaigns in Akkar and Tripoli for 170 women.

Provided university scholarships for 300 students.

Created a cultural center in Zgharta with a library containing 7,000 volumes and a movie club.

Provided vocational training and training of trainers in agribusiness, sewing, hair dressing, ceramics, and painting for 180 women.

Provided foreign language classes (English and French) for 379 women.

1996

Provided vocational training in the food industry, sewing, ceramics, and painting for 160 women in 10 villages.

Organized a popular education awareness campaign and literacy courses for 650 women in 30 villages.

1997

Conducted a literacy campaign for 137 beneficiaries.

Provided vocational training for 815 beneficiaries.

1998

Conducted literacy campaigns and sessions on gender issues for 60 rural women in 4 villages and 20 trainers.

Provided vocational training for 403 beneficiaries in 27 villages.

Organized 10 workshops and 40 conferences for NGOs, women's organizations, cooperatives, and members of municipalities in order to improve the implementation of development projects.

Provided vocational training in agribusiness, quality control, hygiene, processing, and marketing in North Lebanon for 210 members of cooperatives.

Constructed a road for the village of Kfar Hawra that enabled the installation of a garbage collection system and improved health conditions in the village.

1999-2000

Conducted literacy campaigns, English language courses and vocational training in hair dressing, computer, sewing, and carpet weaving that reached 328 beneficiaries in 20 villages in 1999 and 209 beneficiaries in 16 villages in 2000.

Launched the literacy program for the working children of Bab al-Tebbaneh, Tripoli for 75 children.

Conducted awareness sessions on the question of gender for 240 women and 20 cnstructors in Akkar.

2001

Organized a program for 75 working children in Bab al-Tebbaneh that included the following:
- Literacy campaign
- Fieldtrips to tourist sites for the children
- Factory visits for professional orientation
- Vocational training
- Awareness campaign for working children and their employers
- Distribution of milk
- Sessions with a social worker for the parents and children
- Continuous training of trainers and instructors

Conducted literacy campaigns and vocational training for 146 rural women.

Translated and pilot tested the book, "Women in the market: A manual for popular economic literacy".

Conducted an awareness campaign on the nutritive benefits of milk and distributed powdered milk to 281 women and families.

Provided technical and professional training for 70 beneficiaries in the following:
- Milk processing
- Stockbreeding
- Planting fruit and forest trees
- Sorting and packaging produce
- Basic computer skills

Provided training in printing and printing technology in Beirut for 196 youth.

Began construction of the Youth Community Center in Mejdlaya, North Lebanon for conferences, workshops, and seminars; literacy courses for uneducated children and professional training in the food and hospitality industry.

2002

Continued the program for working children in Bab al-Tebbaneh, Tripoli .

Created 3 children's clubs in Bab al-Tebbaneh, Tripoli , to provide them with recreational and educational activities.

Provided literacy and vocational training for 75 women.

Provided intensive training in graphic design, computer and hairdressing for 33 beneficiaries.

Created 4 computer centers in the disadvantaged villages of North Lebanon, (Meryata, Achalk, Mejdlaya, Zgharta).

Conducted a qualitative evaluation of the needs and roles of women and girls in the North, South, and in the Bekaa. Its conclusions were published in December, 2002.

2003

Implemented a vocational training program on new information and communication technologies (ICT) for 63 women from 15 local organizations.

Implemented a training and income generating program for 37 women in sewing and food processing.

Provided intensive professional training in graphic design, printing, and milk processing for 33 youth.

Continued the education program for working children in Bab al-Tebbaneh, Tripoli .

Expanded the Youth Community Center to include:
- An Information and Communication Technology (ICT) center
- Training rooms
- A conference room

Launched the construction of an industrial kitchen.

Launched the construction of a nursery.

2004

Started implementing the Alternatives to Combat Exploitive Child Labor through Education and Sustainable Services (ACCESS) project. This project is implemented on a 5 year period and coveres 5 regions of Lebanon:
- Akkar, North Lebanon
- Bab al-Tebbaneh, Tripoli
- Borj Hammoud and Sin el-Fil, Beirut
- Nabatieh
- Tyre

Launched the Children and Youth Development and Mobilization of Opportunities (CUDMOS) project in which RMF is leading a consortium of NGOs that are implementing the project. It aims to improve health, education, employment, and public participation of youth and will continue until 2006.

Launched, with another NGO, the Rural Women Income Generating Activities and Training Programs (RWIGAT) that works in the North, the Bekaa, Mount Lebanon , and the South. This project's objective is to support rural women's cooperatives, as supplementary income providers, and to aid in the promotion of rural women.
