Environmental Preservation

In order to protect the environment, the RMF has adopted an environmentally sensitive approach in all its agricultural activities.
For example:

The animal farm plays a constructive role in limiting the negative impact of extensive grazing by promoting the use of forage as the sole means of nutrition.

The plant nursery works towards the reforestration of damaged forested areas.

The agricultural extension services include, for instance, the optimization of the usage of fertilizers and pesticides.

Furthermore, the RMF has conducted campaigns to increase public awareness and debate concerning various agricultural issues. These include sustainable development in mountainous regions, strategies for and problems of reforestation, and the different aspects of environmental protection. The RMF has also supported the creation of environmental clubs in schools in the regions of Koura, Batroun and Tripoli.

Through the foundation's activities in enhancing environmental protection and public awareness, the RMF endeavors to develop a strategy for reforestation, which includes the elements below:

Increasing awareness of environmental protection amongst the inhabitants of rural areas and mountain villages, and involving them in the protection of species that help preserve bio-diversity in Lebanon.

Enhancing the preservation of forests by launching activities such as the collection of seeds, planting and reforestation.

Supporting local associations and organizations that carry out reforestation activities by providing them with material and technical support.

Helping local municipalities and organizations to increase green spaces in residential areas and the mountains.

Establishing links and collaborating on projects with other NGOs and institutions that work on environmental issues.
