Improving Farming Agriculture in South Lebanon project -
Rural Development in the South of Litani


Field visits conducted as part of the project


June 2011:
On 8 June, a training on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) was done, along with a visit to the Yarine olive press. 4 olive growers benefited from the visit. Olive field visits were also conducted in Ribtletine and Deir Mimas on 9 and 10 June benefitting another 9 olive growers.

July- September 2010:
A practical day of training session was done by the expert concerning Integrated Pest management. During this day, he did 6 technical assistance visits. He took into consideration the different aspects of the field, and offered his recommendations in order to improve the field conditions and olive quality.

April-June 2010:
12 olive oil samples have taken in order to be analyzed

Jan-March 2010:
14 olive tests were done and the majority of them showed that the olive oil was not of good quality.

October-December 2009:
4 practical days of field visits were done by the expert who visited 15 farmers from 4 different villages and checked their storage room and took olive oil samples to test olive oil quality in the laboratory, and he explained the best conditions for the room storage condition for olive oil concerning humidity, temperature and light.
