Inter-school activitiy for students

On 11 April, 2008, an Interschool-day was organized for the achools of Kobet Shamra Mixed school (18 students and 3 teachers participated) and the 3rd school in Chhim- English section (28 students and 6 teachers participated). The day's schedule included a visit to Annahar newspaper and a visit to the National Museum.

AT the Annahar headquartersAt the Annahar offices, the students and teachers were received by Mrs. Shirine Abdallah, who gave a presentation on the history of the newspaper and the different steps of work to have the daily issue ready, followed by a visit to the offices.
The students had prepared several questions and seemed happy to discuss with a professional journalist.
Children learned a lot from their time at Annahar. They got inspired talking about freedom of speech and learning how much words have power in the world.

The day continued with a visit to the National Museum, after a lunch pause where each student received a lunchbox.
The visit started with the viewing of a documentary on the history and revival of the museum. Then small groups were formed with the help of the teachers and the groups spent an hour visiting the 2 floors of the museum.
Students were happy, especially that for most of them, this was the first visit to the National Museum; all the students from Kobet Shamra said this was their first visit to Beirut! 5 teachers said that this was also their first visit to the museum.

The president of the parent’s council was pleased of the day and asked how they can contribute to organize more similar activities.

Here are photos from the visit to the Annahar newspaper headquarters:
