War on Lebanon -
R
elief and recovery activities undertaken by RMF

Following the destructive air raids conducted on Lebanese cities and villages from the 12th of July to the 14th of August 2006, and in which, over a thousand civilians were killed, thousands injured, and about 850,000 displaced, the RMF started immediately actions of relief in coordination with public institutions (High Relief Committee, various ministries and the civil society...)

RMF put remarkable efforts to meet the basic needs of groups amongst the displaced population that were sheltered in schools and public areas.

A- In Ashrafiyeh, Furn El Chebbak and Quarantine:

The RMF worked with the Ana Lubnani association to deliver fast and most urgently needed relief support for the 4000 displaced in 11 schools, in addition to 800 displaced staying in relatives' houses. The focus was on medical care, medecine distribution, providing daily warm meals, drinking water, clothes and setting up showers in the schools.
After the ceasefire and the progressive return of many families to their villages and neighborhoods, RMF continued to shelter and support about 100 families unable to return to their places, till the end of August.

B- In the North of Lebanon (Koura, Tripoli, Zgharta and Minnieh):

The RMF coordinated its services with local committees working with governement institutions. It provided assistance in 30 schools for about 1000 families.

The relief support included:

Distribution of food items and offering a daily warm meal.
Distribution of clothing, mattresses and bed sheets.
Providing medical services via the RMF's medical clinic in Zghorta and the three mobile dispensaries. These included: Free consultations, vaccination, distribution of medecine and first aid kits.
Improvement of the premises.
Distribution of kitchen tools, cleaning tools, hygiene and personal articles.
Organizing daily activities for the children and the adults, aiming at relieving them from psychological traumas.
