Beneficiaries
The project targets schooled children from grades four, five and six - taking into consideration gender equality - enrolled in the following three public schools in Akkar:
- Kobayat Al Zouk Public School
- Mazraat Balda Public School
- Bourj Al Arab Public School

Objectives
The objectives were based on results from the Child to Child project - phase I, which preceeded this project. They are as follows:
Overall objective
Develop a sustainable model for linking the schools with the surrounding community.
Specific objectives
The overall objective may be achieved through the following specific objectives:
Establish a model for creating school based student and parent councils that provide students with the tools they need to become active and engaged members of society.
Enhance the capacities of public schools to apply the concept of student-led community service activities.
Develop a sustainable educational tool to promote child led community activities through civic education.

Activities
The key activities of the project may be summed up by the following activities:
Establish a school committee including school key personnel, active parents, local representative from MEHE and students' representative.
Establish one cultural club per each school.
Contact the Civic Education Committee established by MEHE to closely collaborate with it.
Screen the civic education curriculum to match it with community service activities.
Train in collaboration with the Civic Education Committee the established school committee on Child to
Child approach and student led community activities.
Implement Child Led Community Activities.
Finalize the Child Led Community manual.


Expected results
Three public schools in Akkar region will be targeted by this project.
370 students in grades 4, 5 and 6 will be participating in the project's activities.
Six community activities (2 per each targeted school) will be organized within the project life.
One cultural club will be established within each school.
One School committee including school principal, supervisor, active teachers, parents and representative of the students will be established in each targeted school.
One manual on student led activities will be designed.
