Description
CUDMOS is part of the Community Development Project (CDP) section of the Lebanese Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR) that manages all international development funds.
CUDMOS is the Children and Youth component of the CDP that should be complemented by other modules targeting other groups.
It is a multi-dimensional initiative at the national level with a focus on health, education, employment, and public participation with an overreaching theme of advocacy on children's right and related laws.
The project consists of two Phases:
Phase I: Validation Phase
A Thematic Social Assessment (TSA) is proposed to reassess and fine tune the technical proposal with the participation of the various beneficiary groups and stakeholders
Phase II: Implementation Phase
It focuses on the following components:
Cross-cutting Component
Diffusion of information on youth issues
Advocacy and awareness-raising on legislative level
Education through trainers, media, civil society organizations, municipalities, schools and universities
Health component
Training and education activities aimed at raising health awareness
Providing skilled trainers on health risk reduction
Facilitating access to youth-friendly health services.
Education Component
Improvement of access to and quality of education
Expansion of existing initiatives through assessment of teachers and students perception of public teaching
Advocacy on the Compulsory Education
Enhancement of the interactivity in the teaching approaches, expansion of the illiteracy activities
Development of education support actions.
Employment Component
Preventing child labor
Right to equality of treatment and healthy conditions
Matching labor supply and demand
Developing entrepreneurial spirit
Creating jobs
Public Participation Component
Promotion aiming at children and youth participation on the national political level, associative level, and municipal level
Strengthening of partnerships between national and local parties and between all children and youth categories
Objectives
Provide youth with opportunities for personal expression and improvment.
Improve life skills capacities
Improve youth access to employment opportunities
Improve access to recreational space and spaces for self expression
Improve access to counseling services
Improve national awareness of youth and children's issues
Activities
The main activities are being implemented through focal centers established in select regions of the country. Those interventions include:
Development of training material and modules on life skills and psychological wellbeing.
Capacity building and training of community workers, community leaders, and youth.
Provision of direct services: counseling, remedial summer schools, awareness sessions.
Advocacy and lobbying on youth-related issues and concerns.
