Beneficiaries
Direct beneficiaries
The direct beneficiaries of the project are 60 children (20 girls and 40 boys) aged between 8 and 12 years old enrolled in the following public schools in Bab Al Tebbaneh: Bab Al Tebbaneh Complementary Mixed School, Lokman Mixed School and Lokman School for Girls. 30 kids are from grade 4 and 30 from grade 6.
Indirect beneficiaries
- 1 representative of Tripoli Municipality;
- 2 education officers (from Education District Authorities in Tripoli);
- 3 school principals (the number of principals vary according to the schools we select for benefiting from this project but in principle we will be working with 3 surrounding schools);
- 20 teachers and supervisors;
- 6 Children Centers tutors (5 remedial teachers and 1 social worker);
- 50 parents.


Objectives
Development Objective
This programme will contribute to the progressive elimination of child labour by increasing the quality, the relevance and the access to formal and non-formal education programmes in Bab Al Tebbaneh region.
Immediate Objectives
Immediate Objective 1:

The capacity of 15 related educational stakeholders (1 representative of Tripoli Municipality, 2 education officers (from Education District Authorities in Tripoli), 3 school principals, 3 schools supervisors and 6 elementary teachers), and 6 Children Centers tutors (5 remedial teachers and 1 social worker) to provide an inclusive and learner-centered education and life skills will have been enhanced
Immediate Objective 2:
60 children at risk to drop out will have benefited from direct services provided to them (remedial classes, recreational activities, life skills) at 1 RMF Children Centers in Bab Al Tebbaneh region.
Immediate Objective 3:
The awareness on child labour issues of the local government in Tripoli and the public at large will have been raised.

Planned Activities
One 2-day training for the recruited remedial teachers on Child Labor and Education (Teachers' Manual) and SCREAM modules;
One 2-day training for the 12 local educational practitioners (3 school principals, 3 supervisors, and 6 school teachers) on SCREAM modules;
Organize remedial classes for 4 subjects in addition to one class for homework.
Organize once per week technological session for children in computer skills.
Organize twice per week recreational activities based on Child Rights and positive discipline.
Organize monthly meeting for the parents for discussing the educational improvement in their children's situation.
Organize a children's exhibition for the 12 of June – World Day against Child Labour

Activities conducted in December 2010


8 & 9 December
A 2-day training was held at the Al Tebbaneh Mixed Medium Public School and the Al Loukman Mixed Public School on the main issues related to Working Children and the SCREAM program that aims at fighting child Labor through education, artistic activities and the media. The training was attended by the school principals of the 2 schools as well as health educators, teachers and members of the parents’ committees.


21 December
The start of the remedial classes for 60 Children at Risk in the 4th, 5th and 6th Grades at the Al Tebbaneh Mixed Medium Public School and the Al Loukman Mixed Public School in Bab El Tebbaneh. The classes will go on every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday till the end of June 2011.


22 December
The recreational activities for the 60 children benefitting from the remedial classes were started. The activities will be conducted every Friday at the Arts Club and the Technology Club at the School for Working Children in Bab el Tebbaneh. The children will spend the whole day involved in educational games and benefit from the modern facilities and equipment offered at the Arts and Technology clubs.


29 December
A Meeting with the parents of the children benefitting from the remedial classes and recreational activities took place at the School for Working Children, to assess with them the educational status and needs of the children.


29 & 30 December
A 2-day training for the teachers conducting the remedial classeswas held at the School for Working Children. The topics of the training were: Child Labor, the SCREAM program and techniques of efficient learning.
