Youth Participation: A Right-Based Approach

Summary:

The two-day workshop was held with the collaboration of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation. It brought together students from various universities in the North and was conducted by Mr. Christophe Politis and Miss Damia Moawad.

In the sessions of the first day, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the notion of 'good citizenship' were introduced to participants, with emphasis on their importance in organizing civil society and ensuring active participation.

Two films entitled, 'The Convention on the Rights of the Child' and 'The Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women', were also viewed and analyzed and Mr. Politis led an interactive session on the principles of the right for fair trial and the presumption of innocence.

The workshop was concluded with an open discussion about ways to enhance civil society rights in Lebanon.
