Weekly Exhibitions
Theme:
Souk El Tayeb
Place:
Saifi Village (Ashrafieh) and Parking Smith (Hamra)
Summary:

Souk el Tayeb was a permanent agricultural products exhibition held every saturday from 9am to 2pm in Ashrafieh and in Hamra, from April to September 2005.

The RWIGAT project participated actively in these weekly exhibitions providing a marketing outlet for the products generated from the Income Generating Activities (IGAs) part of the project.

A total of 400 rural women, beneficiaries from the RWIGAT project, participated in these exhibitions.

In addition to increasing rural women's revenue, Souk el Tayeb helped to improve product packages and labels including product ingredients definition and use.

The Souk el Tayeb experience helped RWIGAT find solutions and provide advice to all beneficiaries for a successful long term marketing plan. Souk el Tayeb assessed the customer needs and helped women beneficiaries adapt their products accordingly. Women took part in all the exhibition days and and sold their own product.

This process provided a platform for the advanced marketing training that RWIGAT provided, and the participating women experienced the selling of their products to a larger clientele as opposed to the small markets where they used to sell their products.
