This 3-day training workshop for facilitators was organized by the RMF in partnership with Club des Etudiants. It was attended by 22 young men and women participants from the Chouf, Beirut, Tyr, Nabatiyye and North Lebanon, and was conducted by Miss Dounia Bassil and Mr. Christophe Politis.

16 September: Human Rights Related Concepts

The agenda included interactive activities to reflect on the topics developed in the REACT training manual and introduce the most important international conventions related to human rights, citizenship and democracy such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Convention on the Rights of the Child or the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, etc.

17 September: Group dynamics and training techniques

Facilitators worked on the definition and description of a "group" as well as on various animation techniques: role-play, brainstorming, photo-language, theatre-forum, case study, etc. Throughout exercises they learnt the necessary skills to become a good trainer or facilitator. There were also taught how to understand groups' dynamics and handle them. The training manual and a thorough description of REACT were presented to the group.

18 September: Facilitators' duties and conducts

Facilitators worked on the concept of "ethics" in training techniques: intellectual integrity, respectful behaviors, no proselytism (political, religious and cultural), commitment, etc. Facilitators were also trained on conflict management, time and project management with a special focus on the importance of monitoring and evaluation.

The workshop was part of the Raising Awareness on Human Rights and Democracy among Youth project being implemented by the RMF and Club des Etudiants to raise awareness among youth on human rights, citizenship, and democracy through the creation of REACT (Rights Education and Awareness for Children and Teens) clubs in schools throughout Lebanon . This project is one of the 16 projects forming the Afkar program that is funded by the European Union and administered by the Office of the Ministry of State for Administrative Reform (OMSAR).
