Outing for School Children (LEAD)

As part of the LEAD Program activities, an outing was organized for students from the Barja El-Dimass Intermediate Mixed School and the Barja Intermediate School for Girls 91 students participated, as well as school teachers and staff. The outing day started with a visit to the historical Beiteddine Palace, where they learned about Lebanese history and the reigns of Emir Fakhreddine II and Emir Bashir II. A tourist guide was providing instructive information about the different areas of the palace: the ancient bathrooms (Hammams), the Mosaic museum and the official meeting areas. The second stop was at the El Barouk Natural Reserve, were the students were introduced to the concept of the reserve. The guide listed the different species of plants, trees, birds, mammals and reptiles that live in the reserve. He elaborated on the history of the cedars as well as their life cycle, and emphasizes the importance of preserving the nature and protecting the environment. After the visits, the students enjoyed healthy food at a restaurant in Nabaa El Safa. |
