As part of the LEAD Program activities, an environmental outing was organized for students from two schools in Zgharta: The Zgharta 1st Intermediate School for Girls and the Zgharta 2nd Intermediate School for Boys.

The LEAD team brought breakfast to students and teachers and then four busses headed to the Ehden Natural Reserve. A guide introduced the students and their teachers to the history of the reserve, types of trees, birds, and unique plants it includes. He also conveyed the importance of preserving such environmental national site and environment in general. The students drank clear water from the spring of Ehden.

After the reserve, the students visited the churches of “Saidit El-Hossen” and “Mar Gergis” where they saw Youssef Beik Karam’s tomb and learned about his life.
