National Debate Day (ACCESS)
Summary:

The event was part of the ACCESS-MENA project, and was held at the UNESCO Palace in Beirut.

In preparation for the event, 5 focus group discussions had been held between July and September 2007 (10 July: Saida and Sour. 30 August: Tripoli and Akkar. 7 September: Zahle. 19 September: Beirut).  These focus group discussions, implemented by consultant Abou Haidar, had dressed the draft law about banning corporal punishment in schools and reintegration of drop out children, and present it to the Lebanese Parliament.

Hence, during the National Debate Day the following was presented to the participants:
The results from the focus group discussions
The effects of violence on children, by Dr. Bernard Gerdaka
The recommendations to be raised to the Lebanese parliament.
