Awareness sessions on 'Benefits of Education for Working Children', with parents of withdrawn and prevented Children (ACCESS)

Four sessions on the benefits of education for working children were conducted during the month of April 2008, with the parents of withdrawn and prevented children, as part of the ACCESS-MENA project. The sessions’ main objective was to establish basics of knowledge on children’s rights and CRC (convention of rights of children). The beneficiaries were parents of children enrolled in AVT, literacy sessions, and remedial classes part of the ACCESS-MENA project. The sessions were delivered to parents of working children in Beirut, Tripoli and Akkar. The sessions were delivered to 296 parents, who were in previous acquaintance with the team and ACCESS-MENA project through introductory sessions delivered in the previous 3 months. In addition to discussing the most common problems and issues faced with their children, psychosocial interventions were implemented to support and help working children. Moreover, sessions were given with the help of psychologists. Awareness consultants and the team coordinators attended some of these sessions for monitoring and evaluation purpose. |
