Organized by the RMF-USA, the 3rd Annual Miami Gala Dinner, brought together some 280 people from the Lebanese-American community in Florida, in support of the Foundation's work in Lebanon especially its education programs and the 'Adopt a Child' campaign. The Master of ceremonies was Mr. Thomas Abraham, son of 97 year old Anthony Abraham, honorary Lebanese Consul in Miami, prominent philanthropist and very successful Lebanese-American businessman, who was present at the gala and had already been the honoree at the 1st Annual Miami Gala Dinner held in March 2006. The Ambassador of Lebanon H.E. Mr. Antoine Chedid was the keynote speaker. The Honorees were Sam and Laurice Hachem who run a successful Real-estate Investment Company in Tampa Bay, and who fund the education of around 450 students in Lebanon. They were honored with the Distinguished Lifetime Achievement and Community Service Award for their generous philanthrophic work in support of education all over Lebanon. H.E. Mrs. Nayla Moawad, Founder and Honorary President of the Foundation, former First Lady of Lebanon, and current Minister of Social Affairs addressed the audience on behalf of the Foundation, she thanked the audence for their continued support of those less fortunate in Lebanon, asking Lebanese Americans to come together in a united front, regardless of their political differences, to support the noble cause of helping the underprivileged and needy in Lebanon. The featured designer was Mr. Jamil Khansa who ended his beautiful fashion show with a dress of the Lebanese Flag and received a standing ovation and applause from the audience. Mr. Khansa received the RMF Outstanding Talent Award. |
