|
Summary: |
The discussions were part of the ACCESS-MENA project. The objective of the discussions was to demonstrate and discuss children’s rights and benefits of education, and other topics of major importance. The beneficiaries were children from Beirut, Saida, Tripoli and Akkar, recruited in the Accelerated Vocational training, literacy training, and remedial classes for ACCESS-MENA. Education and awareness were the main aims of these discussions, the team also made great efforts to raise children’s self confidence and self esteem. Children expressed their opinions in different topics and discussed the common problems they face. After discussing the benefits of education, and children’s rights, other topics were discussed according to the needs of each group. Thus, specific sessions were given to discuss conflict resolution, positive thinking, importance of girls’ role in the community, and personal hygiene. Lesson plans were prepared by team members, depending on their creativity in the techniques and methods of discussions and based on previous trainings, and then revised by the team coordinator and the awareness consultant. |
