Closing ceremony for the “Supporting women socio-economical promotion in different rural regions particularly the ones affected by the conflict ” project

The project, funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and implemented by RMF with the collaboration of the MADA Association, and the Italian NGOs ARCS and CESTAS, was concluded during this event held at the municipality of Ain Ebel. Present were Mr. Nabil Moawad, director of the rural development department at RMF, Ms Cristina Caputo, representative of the Italian cooperation, Ms Francesca Serra, ARCS project director, Mr. Imad Khoury head of the Ain Ebel municipality, active staff members of RMF and many beneficiaries and supporting members and associates of the project. Aiming at strengthening businesswomen’s capacity during the one-year project, 18 entrepreneurs were given support by a tailor-made training program in accounting and marketing. In addition, equipments were provided to enable them to launch a successful business in the villages of Debel, Rmeich, Ain Ebel and Kawzah in South Lebanon. With the objective of diversifying and increasing sources of income, livestock were also distributed to 32 women head of families. Veterinary assistance and training program in breeding were also made available throughout this one-year project. On the other hand, trainings on strategic resources management were carried for the municipalities in the targeted villages. During the closing ceremony, Mr. Nabil Moawad considered that, late President René Moawad in his assassination gave us a lesson that: “No nation without Martyr and no Land without Men and no Men without Development”. From this concept, the RMF was created to assist needy people through the implementation of projects in the agricultural, economical, social, educational sectors as well as in the domain of health all over Lebanon without any discrimination. He mentioned that one of such project’s objectives is to deal with the difficulties every citizen faces without discrimination and to improve every citizen’s social and economical conditions. In the same context, he focused on the importance of this project as a solid step in the South region hoping to implement new projects in the near future and thanked all those involved who contributed to the success of this project. Mr. Imad Khoury underlined the importance of such a project in the region where the promotion of economic recovery is still a major issue at stake. Mrs. Francesca Serra emphasized on the success of the project and mentioned all the difficulties trespassed through the participative approach of the beneficiaries and local actors.
