Mobile Dispensaries

In 1991, with the start of RMF's medical activities, the first mobile dispensary was launched. It visited 50 remote villages in the region of Akkar, on a regular basis.

In 1997, a second mobile dispensary was launched to cover villages in the regions of Koura, Bcharre and Danniye, and in 1998 a third mobile dispensary was put into service for the region of Batroun.

In 2001, the Rotary Club of Kesrwan made a donation of 3 new mobile dispensaries replacing the old vehicles. These were supplied with modern equipment by donations from the Lebanese community of Brazil.

Beneficiaries

The three mobile dispensaries reach 109 villages and more than 100,000 inhabitants.

Since 2003, an average of 1,250 patients are served monthly (15,000 yearly).

Activities

The three mobile dispensaries visit the villages according to a weekly schedule announced in advance (see below). The crew always includes a general practitioner and a nurse. The doctors provide free check-ups, distribute medicines, and give information on vaccination, general hygiene and health education.

The policy of the RMF is to reach and serve every village in the Akkar, Koura, Bcharre, Danniye and Batroun regions that does not have a medical dispensary.
