احتفالًا بمرور 25 عامًا على تأسيسها في الولايات المتحدة، نظّمت مؤسسة رينه معوض-الولايات المتحدة الأميركية عشاءها السنوي الساهر والذي يعود ريعه لدعم العديد من المشاريع والأنشطة التي تقوم بها المؤسسة في لبنان، خاصّة المتعلّقة منها بالرعاية الصحية والتعليم، وذلك يوم السبت 3 تشرين الثاني، في فندق الريتز-كارلتون في العاصمة الأميركية واشنطن.

حضر الحفل حوالي 400 شخص من اللبنانيين الأميركيين، العرب الأميركيين وعدد من الأميركيين أصدقاء لبنان. منهم سفير لبنان في أميركا غابريال عيسى، ممثل وزارة الخارجية،  نائب وزير الخارجية الأميركية للشؤون السياسية وسفير الولايات المتحدة الأميركية في بيروت سابقًا دايفيد هيل، ومديرة قسم المستشفيات والمؤسسات التربوية الأميركية في العالم لدى الوكالة الأمريكية للتنمية الدولية (USAID) آن ديكس.

رحب الحضور بتكريم الرئيسة الفخرية للمؤسسة، النائب والوزيرة السابقة نايلة معوض التي حازت على جائزة الريادة في الرؤية لالتزامها ورؤيتها ومثابرتها، إلى جانب مساهمتها في تنمية المناطق الريفية في لبنان.

في هذا السياق، عُرض فيديو يستعيد مسار نايلة معوض وإنجازاتها على مرّ السنين. وقد عبر الجمهور عن مدى تأثره بقصة حياة نايلة معوض، الإمرأة الملهمة. “لم أشأ أن تُدفن رسالة زوجي رينه مع جثمانه”، قالت نايلة معوض في إحدى مشاهد الفيديو بعد تقديمها من قبل ابنها،  الرئيس  التنفيذي لمؤسسة رينه معوض، النائب ميشال معوض. فقال : “بمناسبة الاحتفال بالذكرى الخامسة والعشرين على تأسيس مؤسسة رينه معوض في الولايات المتحدة الأميركية، منحت جائزة الريادة في الرؤية لهذا العام لشخصية مميزة جدًا، ناضلت من أجل كسر الحواجز على جميع الأصعدة. السيدة التي نكرّم الليلة هي مثال حيّ على أن كل شيء ممكن شرط أن نتحلّى بالشجاعة، الالتزام، التصميم وبروح التضحية”.

وأضاف: “كل ما أنجزته وحققته هذه السيدة هو دليل على أنّ الحواجز التي تواجهنا في الحياة ليست إلا أوهامًا نصنعها بأنفسنا. هذه السيدة هي سبب لقائنا اليوم. كانت امرأة صاحبة رؤية يوم أسسّت مؤسسة رينه معوض عام 1991، ومؤسسة رينه معوض في الولايات المتحدة الأميركية عام 1993”. وختم : “استطاعت نايلة معوض أن تحوّل إرث رينه معوض إلى مؤسسة كسرت كل حواجز الانتماء الديني، المناطقي والسياسي لكي تخدم الإنسان في لبنان، أينما كان ومهما كانت قناعاته. وذلك من أجل أن يتشبّث اللبنانيون بأرضهم، أحرارا، فيما تقدّم لهم المؤسسة حقوقهم الأساسية وتحفظ لهم كرامتهم”.

نايلة معوض بدورها شكرت مؤسسة رينيه معوض-الولايات المتحدة الأميركية على هذه المفاجأة السارّة. وقالت من جهتها : ” تأثرت كثيرًا بما قيل عنّي. أريد في هذا السياق أن أتوجّه لكلّ واحد منّا لأقول أنّه حيثما تتواجد الإرادة، تتواجد الوسيلة. وأنا على يقين أنّ هناك وسيلة، على الدوام، لإنقاذ لبنان. أودّ أن أشكر كل الحاضرين على وجودهم بيننا اليوم”.

وأضافت: “وأوجّه شكرا خاصا لصديقنا ديفيد هيل الذي شرّفنا الليلة بحضوره، وشكرا خاصا للسفير الحالي غابريال عيسى الذي شرّفنا بتنظيمه في الأمس عشاء على شرف المؤسسة، بمناسبة الذكرى الخامسة والعشرين على تأسيسها. شكرًا من القلب للشعب الأميركي لكرمه ودعمه المتواصلين للوكالة الأمريكية للتنمية الدولية التي أنجزت مشاريع عديدة في لبنان في مختلف القطاعات، منها مشروع “بلدي” الذي سمح للمؤسسة بإنجاز 62 مشروعًا إنمائيا في مختلف المناطق اللبنانية، وبالشروع بالعمل على 22 مشروع آخر”.

وختمت معوض قائلة : “شكرا لكم، لكل فرد منكم. لولاكم ولولا وفائكم واهتمامكم بمؤسسة رينه معوض لما كنّا كبرنا، ولما كنّا حظينا بكل هذا التقدير في الولايات المتحدة الأميركية”. تسلّمت نايلة معوض الدرع التكريمي وهو من تصميم وتقديم الفنّان كريم شعيا.

خلال الحفل، تم تسليط الضوء على الإنجازات التي حققتها المؤسسة في الولايات المتحدة، خلال الربع القرن الماضي. كما عُرض فيديو آخر يُظهر مدى عمق اهتمام المؤسسة بإنماء وتطوير كافّة القطاعات في لبنان وهي: الزراعة والتنمية الريفية، التعليم والتنمية البشرية، التنمية الإقتصادية، الرعاية الصحية والإجتماعية، السلطات المحلية واللامركزية.

قام بتقديم الحفل السيد بريان كرم، وهو صحافي أميركي متحدّر من أصول لبنانية، مساهم في محطة الـ “سي إن إن” ، مراسل في البيت الأبيض ومتخصص في الصحافة الاستقصائية. وتخلل العشاء تكريم السيدين داريل عيسى وريتشارد قشوع لعطائاتهما وخدماتهما المتميزة في المجتمع المحلي.

كما وأشاد الحضور بقرار مؤسسة رينه معوض بتكريم عضو الكونغرس السابق داريل عيسى، الذي مثّل الجمهوريين في ولاية كاليفورنيا منذ العام 2001 وحتى 2017 قبل أن يتمّ تعيينه مؤخرا، من قبل رئيس الولايات المتحدة دونالد ترامب، مديرا لوكالة التجارة والتنمية الأمريكية. وكان السيد شريف سوكي، رجل أعمال لبناني أمريكي بارز في مجال الطاقة وصاحب أول شركة تحصل على ترخيص لتصدير الغاز الطبيعي من الولايات المتحدة، قد عرّف بالسيد عيسى.

أما ريتشارد قشوع فهو مسؤول في وزارة التجارة الأميركية، وكان قد قدمه عضو مجلس الشيوخ السابق جون إي سونونو، من ولاية نيو هامبشاير.

وكانت قد تخلّلت الأمسية  إطلالة مميزة للمغنية والممثلة اللبنانية منال ملاط. وعرض أزياء للمصمم اللبناني حسّان إدريس.

The inauguration event was attended by RMF Executive Director Michel Moawad, USAID Mission Director Carolyn Bryan, the Mayor of Kousba Akel Greige, representatives of Kousba El Ghad NGO and CDDG, presidents of municipalities of surrounding towns in Koura district, members of parliament representing the village, prominent community members, and entrepreneurs from the area.

The inauguration was also an opportunity to open the first event in the park, the “Spring Flower Market and Local Products Exhibition”, which took place from May 6-8, 2016 and displayed locally-made products by entrepreneurs from Kousba. Attendees and participants toured the park and exhibitors’ booths.

The René Moawad Foundation and through the USAID BALADI program contribution ($243,000) helped Kousba Municipality construct and equip a park and events venue to create jobs and increase the income of Kousba residents through the various activities that will be organized annually in the venue. The park includes a children’s playground, an outdoor venue for events and a small cafeteria, which are accessible for persons with physical challenges. The park was conceptualized by Kousba Municipality in collaboration with community residents and local organizations in the village. It will employ 10 persons and will help at least 70 entrepreneurs increase their sales through exhibitions, seasonal festivals, weddings and other occasions.

BALADI is currently financing 59 activities, which involve engaging 157 municipalities with socio-economic development initiatives throughout Lebanon.
